Hello São Paulo

Our first day in São Paulo was beautiful. We arrived in the early morning, had cappuccino and delicious pastries. Then we walked to Parque Ibirapuera a giant park near our hostel and stretched, and breathed. (In fact, we walked around for about 8 miles our first day!).

It’s winter here, like LA winter, a crisp in the air. So I’m wearing my one pair of leggings I brought and my one long-sleeved shirt, lol. Also, a wrap and a windbreaker…

The people here have been so loving and helpful and friendly and giggly with our wannabe Portuguese, which is mostly just Spanish trying really hard to be something that it’s not.

Going away from home always reminds me how big and wide and moving the world is. How resilient. How daily. How sweet even in hard political conditions.

Food: amazing savory pastries, mouth-watering churrasco at Roda Grill, a lunch buffet for $7, and the best ramen I’ve had in a long time in Liberdade, the Little Tokyo of São Paulo.

Today we are meeting a friend who’s from here, going to see museums and boho part of time, maybe some gay things, and also possibly yoga…

Trying to write daily while I’m here….

Dreamt of writing / art process just before I woke up….
