We arrived last night to the Haad Chao Phao Resort on Koh Phangan after a 10 hour journey — 2:00 flight to Surat Thani; 1:30 bus ride to Donsak Pier; 2:30 ferry ride to Thongsala Pier; 30 min taxi up the west coast of the island — and here we are.
We didn’t quite expect how rustic it is–little bungalows with a fan and mosquito net, an attached bathroom where greywater flows right outside to the garden behind, just a mattress and bottom sheet, no sheets, towels for rent for 20 baht each–but it’s a quiet little paradise literally just steps from the beach. For the same price in Chiang Mai (550 baht) we got air conditioning and towels and soap and water bottles and someone cleaned our room every day, but hey!
