Tourism Day 2

Today was full of touristy adventures!

We started off with coffee and Andouille sausage breakfast sandwiches at Mr. Gregory’s. That is where the voodoo tour started, run by Free Tours on Foot. We heard so much complicated history of New Orleans, and the powers of magic and ritual.

We walked around the French Quarter, then went to Lüke for .75 cent oysters and half off drinks happy hour (I’m obsessed with a rye, Herbsaint & bitters drink there called Sacerzy…) and delicious shrimp n grits.

Then we walked back to the quarter for dueling pianos and a famous hurricane (rum drink) at Pat O’Brien’s. We had heard there was Thursday night zydeco & dancing at Rock n Bowl so we went. We didn’t love it. So we ditched and went to Frenchmen Street, where the highlight was the Youngfellas Brass Band, playing to a huge crowd on the street. Until the police came and arrested the older man selling gumbo and rice, which was a depressing way to end the evening.
